The Kalamazoo County Taxpayers Association is working to keep your home affordable. We are a non-partisan taxpayer advocacy organization intended to give taxpayers a voice in the taxing and spending decisions of state and local governments and schools. It is our goal to make widely known the benefits of freedom, limited government, and lower taxes.
Formed in 1995, KCTA has a history of success in defeating tax increase and slowing out-of-control government spending. The Taxpayers Association has conducted more than 60 campaigns against local tax millage requests over the last ten years and has been successful in defeating nearly two-thirds of them, saving residents millions of dollars in unnecessary, punitive taxes.
In order to provide a counter-balance to government demands for higher taxes and claims of strapped budgets, KCTA interacts with local media to make known our position on tax and spending issues. Over the years we have been able to curb the culture of government expansion by exposing facts and figures about government misuse of taxpayer dollars and the economic benefits of a better tax and regulatory environment.
At KCTA we ask three simple questions of government:
1) How much am I being taxed? (Income tax, sales tax, business tax, property tax, gasoline tax, alcohol and tobacco taxes, license fees, etc.)
2) How are my tax dollars being spent?
3) What benefit or value am I getting from the expenditures of my tax dollars?
These are questions that taxpayers and citizens of all political parties want answers to. It is our goal to find them.
